Vietnamese legend turned into a Broadway-style stage show

The "The love story of Giang Huong" Broadway-style musical will hit the stage of Hoa Binh Theater in Ho Chi Minh City on October 14.

The performance which was inspired by a Vietnamese fairytale titled ‘Tu Thuc Gap Tien’ (Tu Thuc Meets a Fairy), is a story from the Truyen Ky Man Luc (Collection of Strange Tale) by Nguyen Du.It tells about a young mandarin once encountered with a beautiful fairy. He then gave up his status to go looking for her in the fairyland. When he returned to the Earth, centuries have passed, his old village was gone.The songs used in the musical are the oldies composed by the famous Vietnamese musicians, Van Cao, Pham Duy, and Trinh Cong Son.About 50 artists, including singers Nam Khanh, Tan Dat, Hoang Kim and Thanh Nguyen will participate in the show.The show directed by Sylvain Merille is invested a total capital of VND10 billion (US$430,000).
