Vietnamese Dutch designer to open VIFW Spring-Summer 2017

Dutch-Vietnamese designer Xuan-Thu Nguyen will open the Vietnam International Fashion Week - Spring-Summer 2017 (VIFW) that will be held at Gem Center in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1 on April 25-28.

Nguyen is the first designer of Vietnamese descent who becomes a member of France’s Haute Couture Federation.

Xuan-Thu Nguyen was born in a traditional craft family in Vietnam. She grew up in Holland. The designer graduated from Charles Montaigne, a fashion academy in Amsterdam in 1999. XUAN is the fashion label of Dutch-Vietnamese designer Xuan-Thu Nguyen. The design house is based in Paris with production in France and Holland.

Designs from her fashion label, XUAN have been presented in Paris, Holland, New York, since 2000; and sold in Berlin, Milan, Barcelona, Los Angeles and Tokyo. She introduced her first haute couture creations at the Paris Fashion Week in 2008.

The Vietnam International Fashion Week - Spring-Summer 2017 will introduce more than 20 performances presenting Vietnamese & international designers' latest collections.

Foreign designers, including Xuan Haute Couture (France), Betty Tran (Australia), Joao Rolo (Portugal), THIRD (the Republic of Korea), Israeli Fashion by Shenkar Design School (Israel), Boys of Bangkok (Thailand), Lie by Lee Chung Chung (the Republic of Korea), and Tata Christiane (Germany) will join the show, along with local designers such as Nguyen Cong Tri, Chung Thanh Phong, Thuy Design House, Devon Nguyen, HA Linh Thu, Do Long, Le Thanh Hoa, Hoang Minh Ha and others.

The international standard event has blown a new fresh air into Vietnam fashion industry and given a deep impression on devotees.

The Vietnam International Fashion Week is expected to connect Vietnamese designers to the world’s fashion industry.
