UNESCO award winning Vietnamese designer Vo Viet Chung will present his collections of Ao Dai in the Vietnam-Japan cultural week in Tokyo in Japan from September 15 to 19.
The designer will introduce three new collections, the Nguoi luc tinh (southerners) collection, the Hoa tiet Phuong Nam (southern patterns) collection and the Co Ba xu Viet (Ms. Ba from Vietnam) collection made from silk, velvet and lace fabrics.
Hand embroidered Ao Dai will be accessorized with interesting items like wooden ropes.
His Co Ba xu Viet (Ms. Ba from Vietnam) collection, comprising of 15 outfits made of silk and ‘Lanh My A’ , was voted amongst the top five collections from 30 others at the Silk Festival in Shanghai in China in 2007. The show was broadcast live on Fashion TV and CNN channel.
Vo Viet Chung became the first Vietnamese designer to win an award from UNESCO for his work in preserving ‘Lanh My A’, a rare traditional silk fabric of southern Viet Nam.
Collections Nguoi luc tinh (southerners) and Co Ba xu Viet (Ms. Ba from Vietnam) were displayed at the Asian fashion week 2011 in Thailand on July 5-11.
Miss Grand Slam Asia 2009, Huong Giang; the first runner-up of 2008 Miss Universe Vietnam, Vo Hoang Yen; models including Phung Ngoc Yen, Kim Cuong, Chung Thuc Quyen, Vu Hoang Diep, Ngan Ha and Kim Minh will travel to Japan to showcase the designer’s collection.
