Vietnam’s economy grew 5.76 percent in the first nine months of the year from the same period last year, the country’s General Statistics Office announced Thursday.
As the government looks to 6 percent for this year, the rate for the rest of the year needs to be higher if it is to beat the target, the office said.
Between January and September, the industrial sector posted a 6.62 percent growth, followed by service at 6.24 percent. Meanwhile, agriculture saw just 2.39 percent expansion.
Vietnam has cut its full-year economic growth for 2011 twice, from 7-7.5 percent to 6.5 percent and then down to 6 percent.
