Three Vietnamese athletes entered the final. In the light bantamweight category of the junior competition, Vuong Thi Vy (52kg) won the unique gold medal for Vietnam in this tournament after defeating India's 2009 Junior National Champion Lalfakzuali with the advantages from a draw 12-12 in the final.

It is remarkable that the Vietnamese athlete showed her courageous spirit when succeeding in protecting her final victory after the 2-4 lose in the third round.

In the light flyweight division of the junior competition, the silver medal went to Vietnam’s Pham Thi Phuong (48kg) when beaten 20-21 by Japan’s Kasumi Saeki in the final. Before that, Phuong had two wins, one 16-11 win over Ireland’s Christine Gargan in the quarter-final and one 18-7 win over Taiwan’s Chan Yu-Hsuan in the semi-final.

Meanwhile, in the bantamweight division of the youth competition, Luu Thi Duyen (54kg) from Lao Cai also tried her best in the final but unfortunately received a 17-12 lose from China’s Lili Niu and got a silver medal.

The result with one gold and two silver medals is considered as the most remarkable achievement of Vietnamese female boxers in the world competition.
