Major general Phan Van Dong, deputy chief inspector at the Ministry of Public Security and senior lieutenant colonel Le Van Thang, deputy chief inspector of the An Giang Province Police department drowned at sea in Phan Thiet town at 5:30pm on Friday.
They had both been bathing in the sea in Mui Ne Ward of Phan Thiet town in the central province of Binh Thuan.
Mr. Dong and Mr. Thang had come to Mui Ne to attend an inspection training course from January 5-7, organized by the Ministry of Public Security.
Bodies of both the two officials were recovered by rescue workers at 8:30pm on the same day.
