Thanh An island changes better thanks to government’s rural plan

Thanh An island in Ho Chi Minh City welcomes Tet holidays ( the Lunar New Year) with elated atmosphere this year with more new roads and spacious houses.

This is fruit of the government’s rural plan with the national electricity grid connecting the island, helping to improve residents’ lives and production.

Resident Nguyen Van Binh said that now he earns more, he decided to build a new house and buy flower trees to decorate the new house on the occasion of Tet festival.
Along the main road to the island center, many new houses are under construction. Builders are quick to paint the new houses while owners of other houses were displaying trees for decoration.
Local Ung Van Giay said happily that he can now live in a new house at nearly 70 age. The new house was built thanks to the local administration’s support from the government’s rural plan, he added, he and family members are not worried any more when storm hit the island district.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan who is an official of the People’s Committee in the island said that residents’ living condition in the island much improved more than before.
At present, the government has outlined a project to build a factory to convert sea water into fresh water for locals. Once the factory is operated, people’s income will be raised more, Tuan added. 
Since the electricity grid connected the island, people have used electric machine to dry salt improving productivity and quality, he said.
Accordingly, income in 2015 was VND37 million ($1,630) per capita but in 2017 it was VND43 million per capital.
The junior high school Thanh An was verified to achieve the national standard with state-of-the-art equipment in labs. Headmaster Nguyen Bao Ngoc said that after the presence of internet, teachers can transmit knowledge to students by using modern devices accessed with internet.
Furthermore, the medical center in the island has been equipped with machines to provide first aid to patients; accordingly, the number of people transferred to big hospitals reduced.
