Qatar Airways will begin direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City and the Qatari capital of Doha on March 26.
The new service every Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday will reduce the travel time between the two cities and “open up new prospects for economic, cultural and tourism cooperation between the two countries”, a Qatar Airways’ representative said.
A single economy-class ticket on the new route will cost QAR3,400 (US $934). The more expensive business-class tickets are already available at Qatar Airways’ agents in HCMC.
Viet Nam is the newest of Qatar Airways’ 72 ports-of-call in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Far East and Asia.
In other airline news, the Viet Nam Air Services Company, or Vasco, will increase the number of flights on the Ho Chi Minh City-Con Dao route from four to five, six or seven a week later this month.
Vasco will also take over from Viet Nam Airlines on the Quy Nhon – Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City - Quy Nhon routes. Using ATR 72 planes, it plans to fly ten times weekly between HCMC and Quy Nhon, and three times a week between Quy Nhon and Da Nang.
