Photo exhibition titled “Vietnam in 80s” by Michel Blanchard, an AFP journalist opened at the French Cultural Exchange Center, Idecaf in Ho Chi Minh City.
The 80s, between Reunification and the introduction of Doi moi, is a pivotal time for Vietnam.
The AFP correspondent had a heavy and exciting task to inform all aspects of the national life. Michel Blanchard, who was director of the AFP office in Hanoi from June 1981 to June 1983, will testify with his hindsight, experience, work, and daily life, through his exhibition of 50 photos taken by himself.
This experience marked the beginning of a long relationship with Vietnam through his writing and photos. A relationship that lasts forever until today via many cultural links.
Michel Blanchard was bureau chief of AFP in Hanoi for two years, from 1981 to 1983. He has continued to visit Vietnam for over ten years as a writer of travel guides.
The display will run until May 31.
