Oil leak from sunken barge on Dong Nai River

Barge numbered SG 0595 with loading of 500 tons driven by 38 year old Huynh Cong Danh from the Mekong delta province of Ca Mau to carry material in the river section on November 30 evening . While crane was working, it made the barge sunken, spilling 100 liters of oil.

At that time,  captain, sailor, one woman and two kids were in the barge. When the barge was sunken, the woman and two kids were rescued safely; accordingly no report of human loss. However, there was oil leak in the river. Relevant agencies had to treat the incident.

Director of the province’s Department of Transport Trinh Tuan Liem said that treatment of oil leak was carried out as quick as possible.

Environmental police continue carrying out further investigation.
