World renowned golfer Colin Montgomerie opened the golf course he designed and bears his name on April 19, and played over there.
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the 2010 European Ryder Cup Captain birdied the first hole and went on to shoot 68, a record at the Montgomerie Links Vietnam.

The 18-hole course, located along the coastal road between Danang City and Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage center, was informally opened last August. A par 72 that measures as much as 7,090 yards from the back tees, it also has three less-daunting sets of tees, the forward-most being 5,119 yards.
The formally opening day’s activities included a clinic for club members and guests at the Montgomerie Links Golf Academy. Montgomerie was also joined during his round by members and representatives of Indochina Land, the project’s developers.
His design has been voted “best new course in the country” by the Vietnam Golf Magazine.
