The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has cleared a document that will strengthen control on International Trade in Wild Fauna and Flora Species recognized under CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora).
The document has been sent to the Ministries of Police, Defense, Finance, Industry and Trade, Vietnam Airlines Corporation and to People’s Committees of Cities and Provinces throughout the country.
Accordingly, Vietnam Airlines Corporation will be allowed to transport wild fauna and flora species with legal documentation and relevant departments and local authorities will conduct strict checks at border gates.
Importing species listed on CITES appendices must have CITES permit from exporting country and import certificate issued by Vietnam CITES.
