The result was announced at a seminar to develop the country’s IT cooperation in the northern province of Lao Cai yesterday. Ministries, departments and cities all partake in the Index.
Index report also ranked cities and provinces in terms of technology infrastructure, personnel infrastructure and IT application.
The Ministry of Finance was ranked first on the IT production index, followed by the Insurance Company of Vietnam and the Ministry of Education and Training. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development was ranked eighteenth, the Ministry of Science and Technology at nineteenth and the Government Inspectorate at 20th.
According to the newly-launched index, first place in the general ranking was taken by Da Nang, followed by Ho Chi MInh City and Hanoi. The three last positions in the index were taken by the Mekong delta province of Bach Lieu, next is Tra Vinh in Mekong delta and Lai Chau in the north respectively.
This year is the 12th years Vietnam ICT Index carried out by the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Vietnam Association for Information Processing .
The indices are structured following the United Nations standard, which consists of three main components: technical infrastructure, human resources and IT application. The index has eliminated “inappropriate” indicators and included new ones in order to promote e-government.
