Mass flight cancellations as Typhoon Nakri approaches

Carriers have already cancelled flights and amended flight plans on local routes on November 11 because of the influence of tropical typhoon Nakri that is forecast to make landfall in South- Central region of Vietnam by late November 10.

The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines (VNA) has just announced that it will stop exploiting flights, including VN1651 and VN1650 linking Hanoi and Phu Yen; VN1396, VN1397, VN1625 and VN1624 connecting HCMC and Hanoi, Quy Nhon.
Due to the bad weather, the carrier’s aircrafts will take off earlier than the planned departure time from 1 hour 40 minutes to 3 hours, consisting of VN1613 from Hanoi to Pleiku and VN1427 from Pleiku to HCMC; VN1564, VN1565, VN1356, VN1357, VN1358, VN1359 between Hanoi/HCMC and Nha Trang to ensure that flights take off and land in Nha Trang before 6 p.m because the central coastal city will close its Cam Ranh airport after.
VNA has also changed flight schedule to international flights from/to Nha Trang, including VN718, VN719 connecting China’s Chengdu and Nha Trang; VN440, VN441 between Nha Trang and Seoul.
Meanwhile budget airline Jetstar Pacific is canceling 4 flights from Quy Nhon/Phu Yen to HCMC on the same day, consisting of BL452, BL453, BL434 and BL435.
In addition, many local flights of other domestic carriers have been rescheduled to avoid severe storm.
