On August 22, the Ho Chi Minh City Women’s Union launched the “Vietnamese Families with Lao and Cambodian Students Studying in Ho Chi Minh City” program, titled the “Friendship Journey – Connecting Hearts.”
The group of more than 100 people, including host mothers and Lao and Cambodian students, visited four historic and cultural sites in Ho Chi Minh City, including the Iron Triangle tunnel historical site in Tay Nam Ward, Phu An Bamboo Village in Phu An Ward, Phu Loi Prison in Phu Loi Ward, and the Minh Long Ceramics Museum in Thuan An Ward.
At the destinations, participants paid tribute to fallen heroes and experienced traditional craft activities.
Singphaengkham Milinda, a second-year student at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, said that the trip was meaningful and allowed students to learn more about Vietnam's historic sites and traditional craft villages.
During their studies and daily lives in Ho Chi Minh City, she and fellow students have received care and support from local authorities and communities. They have also been particularly impressed by the city's cuisine.
The program is part of an initiative jointly implemented by the Women's Union, the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and the city's socio-political organizations, not only providing care and support for the students but also organizing activities to promote cultural exchange and introduce Vietnamese traditions and values.
The program has become a meaningful bridge for people-to-people diplomacy, helping strengthen friendship and solidarity among Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
