The Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival of ethnic groups in the northwestern region will be held in Lao Cai province from October 1-3.
This year’s event themed “Ethnic groups in the northwestern region: unity and development towards the National Tourism Year 2017,” attracts the participants of eight provinces including Hoa Binh, Son La, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Ha Giang and Phu Tho.
The festival will have a series of cultural activities, such as an incense-offering ceremony at the Uncle Ho Monument, art performance, photo exhibition, display of cultural products of the northwestern region, performance of traditional costumes and sport games with the participation of around 350 artists and athletes from the eight provinces.
The opening ceremony of the festival will be broadcast live on VTV, VOV and Vietnam News Agency (VNA) channels on October 1.
The Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival of ethnic groups also aims to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Lao Cai Province.
