According to the latest news from the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center, Kujira storm has moved westward of East Sea, threatening directly the northern provinces of Vietnam.
Because of the influence of storm, the Northern provinces and Gulf of Tokin will see heavy rains and flood on local rivers and streams.
The storm was yesterday centered at 18, 9 degrees north latitude and 110, 8 degrees east longitude in the southeastern territorial water of Hai Nam Island (China). The strongest wind speeded level 9, gusted up to level 10- 11.
In the past 24 hours, Kujira moved the north northwestwards at 10- 15 kilometers per hour into the southern region of Leizhou Peninsula (China).
In next 24- 48 hours, the storm is predicted to run toward the northwest at 10- 15 kilometers per hour; and then it will make landfall in China and weaken into tropical pressure zone.
By the evening on Wednesday, the tropical pressure will generate the southeastern region of Guangxi province in China.
Due to effect of storm circulation, the northern mountainous and northeastern provinces of Vietnam will experience heavy rains on the large scale. The water level is forecast to increase 2- 3 meters on local rivers and streams in the Northern provinces. Additionally, Quang Ninh, Cao Bang, Lang Son, Bac Kan, Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen, Ha Giang and Tuyen Quang are warned appearance of flood and landslide, reported the Central Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center.
Meanwhile, 6- 8 level wind speed, heavy rains, thunderstorm and 2- 4 m big waves will sweep through the territorial waters from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau and Spratly Island.
Coping with the natural disaster, the Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control and the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control and the National Committee for Search and Rescue have asked the central coastal provinces from Quang Ninh to Quang Binh, authorities and relevant agencies in Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang province to call quickly fish boats back and move to safer place.
By the evening yesterday, more than 10, 000 fishing boats moved to safer place to avoid the storm; however, 97 fishing vessels with 878 fishermen are reported going fishing.
In the related weather news, prolonged heavy rains with 60- 70mm rainfall occurred in the central provinces in past two days, bettering water shortage in resident’s life and planting.
