Large groups of the Republic of Korea (Rok) such as GS E&C, Kumho Asiana and Samsung on Wednesday expressed their wishes to further cooperation with Vietnamese businesses and receive more assistance from Ho Chi Minh City authorities to complete their underway works and invest in other projects.

They said at a meeting with Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Secretary Le Thanh Hai and People’s Committee Deputy Chairman Nguyen Huu Tin during their business trip to Rok from May 23-30.
Mr. Hai reaffirmed that HCMC would facilitate the trade and investment of Korean companies in Vietnam and HCMC.
He appreciated investment activities of GS E&C in Vietnam and HCMC especially to the Binh Loi-Tan Son Nhat outer belt road.
The group deputy chairman Huh Myung Soo said that project started construction in 2006 and 80 percent of the road has been built and put into operation so far.
They are working in two other important projects in the city namely Nha Be and Thu Thiem. Mr. Huh hoped that HCMC leaders would continue caring about and assisting the group to build these projects on schedule.
Kumho Asiana chairman Park Sam Koo expressed his gladness to meet with Mr. Hai and HCMC delegation. Asiana has become the first airline of the RoK opening direct flight to HCMC.
Mr. Park presented projects that the group has been bidding for construction in Vietnam including a tire plant broadening project in Binh Duong, beltway no.3 and Tan Van-Nhon Trach highway.
He expected that Mr. Hai and HCMC authorities would continue paying attention to and creating conditions for the group to more contribute to the economic development of Vietnam.
Samsung group representatives hoped that Samsung electronics project that has recently broken ground in District 9 would come into operation by next year.
Mr. Hai welcomed the group’s investment in Vietnam and pledged that HCMC would always accompany by the company to implement the project.
The Vietnamese Government and HCMC administration have given the group with the highest incentives to do so and proposed Samsung to ensure the project’s progress as per their commitments.
He also suggested the group to increase localization rate in their production activities in Vietnam.
On the same day afternoon, Mr. Hai visited Honorary Consul General of Vietnam to Busan Park Soo-kwan.
