Vietnamese Ministry of Health yesterday sent its circular No. 46/2018/TT-BYT on electronic medical record implementation in infirmaries under the Ministry to better services.
As per the circular, EMRs include medical records of inpatients, outpatients and other medical documents. EMRs are licensed as per the Law of Examination and Treatment .
The Ministry also pointed out each patient has one electronic medical record code in a hospital which contains all information in written medical records and signature of responsible people.
EMRs must be updated within maximum 12 hours after physicians have provided examination and treatment or 24 hours in case of technology incidents.
New medical records are hoped to save time for medical workers and patients.
The Ministry regulates the road map for EMR implementation. From 2019 to 2023, first class hospitals must actively update its network to implement electronic medical records as per the regulation. From 2024 to 2028, all infirmaries countrywide must have EMRs.
