Environment police in the central city of Da Nang seized one tonne of illegal rotten pig organs from a processing unit in Lien Chieu District in Da Nang City.
While conducting checks at the Nguyen Thi A’s Company in Lien Chieu District of Da Nang City, police discovered a tonne of animal organs, most of them of pigs, inside foam containers, all of which had rotted and were stinking.
In addition, the police also detected and destroyed 800 kg of pig fat inside jute bags. 37-year-old Nguyen Thi A, owner of the company, failed to show the officers a valid certificate or any other legal document for the rotting stock.
A said she had bought the meat from slaughterhouses and markets in the city before Tet Lunar New Year, and wanted to take it to the northern provinces to sell.
In related news, on the same day, officers from the Dien Chau Animal Quarantine Station in Nghe An District, market management officials and traffic police, forced a suspicious looking van to stop for inspection and discovered it to be carrying about 1.75 tonnes of pig fat in 50 bags.
Ho Dac Tho, the transporter, failed to show the officers a valid certificate or any other legal document for his cargo.
Tho said he was carrying the meat from the central province of Thua Thien Hue, where he is living, to sell in Hanoi.
