Attending in the opening ceremony were leaders of State agencies, provincial authorities and departments along with 350 artisans of 60 traditional craft villages throughout the country and hundreds of artists participated in the art performance.
The festival aims to promote Hue culture and its typical tourism products, and honor traditional country crafts, said Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien-Hue province, Nguyen Van Thanh.
The 8th event attracted well-known craft villages across the country, displaying their traditional handicraft products, such as ceramics, brocades, silk, terracotta, paper flowers, lanterns, silver and gold jewelry.
Additionally, the festival will see the participation of 17 international troupes featuring 70 artisans of 11 cities which have sister and cooperative cities with Hue, such as China, South Korea, Japan, Brazil, Turkey and among.
A wide range of cultural activities will be held during the festival, such as Ao Dai fashion show, food fair, flower festival, exhibitions of lotus and the oriental medicine.
The highlight event is Hue International Hot Air Balloon Festival which will take place from April 27-29, featuring the participation of 10 hot air balloons, from Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, the Netherland, and host Vietnam.
The festival will run until May 2.
