Children and parents were seen to fill the city Children Hospital No.1’s Treatment Ward yesterday.
Dr. Pham Van Hoang who heads the Treatment Ward advised parents to keep their children warm in these days as well as have good diet to increase their children’s immune. Parents should take their children to nearest medical clinics when children experience cough, running nose and breathing failure
Moderately cold weather also causes an increase in emergency hospital admissions of elderly people in these days.
Dr. Truong Quang Anh Vu from Thong Nhat Hospital said that hospital admission rates increase in patients with respiratory problems, asthma and heart diseases.
For instance, 3,500 outpatients arrived at the hospital on December 23 and 4 and patients with pneumonia, asthma and heart disease accounted for 40 percent.
People should keep warm when going out especially those suffering chronic diseases including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, high blood pressure and heart disease, said Dr. Vu,; moreover, these patients have to take enough water and good diet.
Dr. Nguyen Khanh Duong of the Ho Chi Minh City University Medical Center stressed people should not use coal to warm them up because coal produce fatal gas CO.
