Ho Chi Minh City Book Fair attracts over 80,000 readers

More than 80,000 book lovers took part in the opening ceremony of the 7th Ho Chi Minh City Book Fair at the Le Van Tam Park in District 1 on March 19.

City leaders attending the ceremony included Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, deputy secretary of the HCMC Party Committee; Do Quy Doan, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications; Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam, deputy secretary of the City Party Committee and chairwoman of the City People's Council; Hua Ngoc Thuan, deputy chairman of the municipal People’s Committee; and Than Thi Thu, Head of the Department of Propaganda and Education of the HCMC Party Committee.

Around 160 local and foreign publishers with about 500 bookstalls will display more than 200,000 titles and expect to sell over 20 million copies. Books will be offered at a 10-80 per cent discount during the event.

Around 10,000 copies of ‘Cung Duong Vang Nang’ (Sunny road) by writer Duong Thuy will be available. The special book on General Vo Nguyen Giap, which is printed on Vietnamese “Do” ( red )  paper and presented in lacquer boxes, is priced at VND2.2 million.
