Amid the complicated developments in the flooding situation, on Aug. 24, officers and soldiers from Thong Thu Border Guard Station under the Nghe An Provincial Border Guard Command coordinated with the Muong Piet Village Management Board in Thong Thu Commune to inspect flooded areas. They also urged residents to closely monitor weather developments and take precautions against flash floods and landslides. No casualties or property damage have been reported so far.
However, more than 20 households in Muong Piet Village are currently located on the other side of a stream and could become isolated if heavy rain continues and water levels rise.
Also on Aug. 24, prolonged heavy rain caused localized flooding at several locations in Nhon Mai Commune. Officers and soldiers from Nhon Mai Border Guard Station under the Nghe An Provincial Border Guard Command coordinated with Nhon Mai Commune police to help residents of Tan Mai Village move their belongings to safe locations and minimize losses caused by flooding.
Border Guard units along Nghe An Province’s border are maintaining forces in the field, closely monitoring the situation and proactively coordinating with local authorities and relevant agencies to respond promptly if the flooding situation becomes more complicated.
