Ho Chi Minh City Department of Natural Resources and Environment has decided to suspend operations of four polluting companies by cutting off their power supply and sealing all machinery equipment.

The Pham Van Long Company in District 12, Gia Hung Company in District 12, Hoang Son Phat Company in Le Minh Xuan Industrial Zone and Quoc Sieu Company in Binh Chanh District have been targeted by the department as a major source of atmospheric pollution.

The four companies will be forced to suspend operations once the department seals machinery and cuts off power supply. The companies have continually violated environmental regulations that include releasing untreated wastewater into the environment, not having wastewater treatment plants, discharging wastewater in excess of permissible limits and also not paying penalty fines for violations.

Representatives of cities and provinces proposed to the Ministry of Science and Technology to coordinate with relevant agencies to introduce effective technologies for environmental treatment, to help resolve the issues faced by the polluting companies.
