The People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City plans to conduct a survey to find ways to implement dredging of the Vinh Binh, Tam Binh and Nuoc Trong canals in Thu Duc District.

The City Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has been  requested to work with relevant departments to study technical solutions, build reservoirs, plant trees and grow hedges to protect the canal corridor.

The length of approx. 1,700 kilometres of the canal is located within the city. About 700 kilometres lies in densely populated residential areas and 60-70 percent of this patch of canal is neither being dredged or improved because of lack of funds.
