HCMC establishes two animal quarantine stations

Standing Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Le Thanh Liem decided to temporally establish two interdisciplinary animal quarantine stations to prevent the outbreak risk of African swine fever as well as control diseases on animals in the city.

Accordingly, the first station is located at the weighing station of Ky Ha 1 Bridge near Phu My bridge toll collection station, and the second is in front of house No.1057 on Highway 22, May Trang Hamlet, Phuoc Thanh Commune, Cu Chi District.

The two stations operate 24 hours per day, seven days a week including holidays; and they are expected to stop operating in case of no risk of accrual and infectious disease on animals. 

The HCMC Department of Natural Resources and Environment worked with the Municipal Urban Environment Company to prepare solutions for dealing with a large number of 50-1,000 pigs in case of the disease outbreak.

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City has 3,917 pig farms with a scale of 274,154 ones. Of which, there are 274 farms using food wastes from restaurants, facing a high risk for the diseases.
