The Asian Football Confederation announced recently that they will increase number of participating teams from 32 to 46 clubs, which will give Hanoi T&T more opportunity to take part in the AFC Champions League 2014.

The AFC Champions League is considered as Asia’s premier club competition. To participate in the AFC Champions League, Hanoi T&T and seven other clubs, including Melbourne Victory (Australia), Beijing Guoan (China), Muangthong , Chonburi (Thailand), Pune FC (India), Tampines Rover (Singapore) and South China (Hong Kong-China) will draw lots to determine play-off round on December 10.
In the past, three teams of the V-League from Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Hoa Lam Binh Dinh and B.Binh Duong clubs participated in the competition, but were defeated by teams from Japan, China and Korea in the qualifying round.
According to AFC, Vietnam will have two opportunities to participate in AFC Cup 2014 if Hanoi T&T club receives a ticket for participating in the main round of the AFC Champions League 2014.
Accordingly, the lots drawing ceremony for the play-off round for AFC Champions League and AFC Cup 2014 will take place in Malaysia on December 10.
