The competition will attract 30 local and international teams featuring 500 athletes. Each team has 12 people each of whom must cover a 600-meter race course on West Lake.
The race includes two divisions, Amateur and Professional. Teams from China, Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, and Hong Kong (China) will compete in the category of Professional while local groups from cities and provinces nationwide will participate in the category of Amateur.
Teams from foreign embassies, public agencies, and businesses will compete on February 17.
The competition is expected to become an annual event, aiming at restoring and preserving the folk sport game, promoting the capital’s culture and history, and attracting visitors to the city.
