Hanoi hosts 2nd International Comic Strip Festival

The second International Comic Strip Festival will take place at the Hanoi Library from May 30 to June 4.

The event is co-organized by the Wallonia-Brussels Delegation in collaboration with the Kim Dong Publishing House, the Embassy of Canada and the Association of French Speaking Universities.

The festival includes an exhibition of the famous Belgian comic strip ‘Spirou’ and a series of Vietnamese comic strips with cat themes (the animal of the year).

The Wallonia-Brussels Delegation will present the famous Belgian comic strip ‘Spirou’, created in 1938, while Kim Dong Publishing House will introduce a series of Vietnamese comic strips with cat themes marking the Year of the Cat.

The well-known Belgian comic writer Stephen Desberg, author of “Le Scorpion” and Canadian comics’ lecturer Sylvain Lemay will join the event, as guests of honor.

They will meet local writers, painters and students in a seminar on comic book publication, during the festival.
