Hanoi CPI shows increase in September

Consumer price index (CPI) of Hanoi City in September rose 0.57 percent over the previous month, and 6.68 percent compared to the same period last year.

Thus, after nine months, the City’s CPI surged 5.79 percent compared to December last year.

Ten out of 11 commodity groups saw an increase in price compared to the previous month with education posting strongest rise of 2.02 percent as demand for books, notebooks, and school tools climbed prior to new school year. In addition, vocational schools, colleges, and universities raised tuitions for the school year of 2013-2014.

This month, the gold price index hiked 2.24 percent while the US dollar price index slid 0.11 percent over last month.
