A concert at the Hanoi Opera House January 29-30 will mark the 60th anniversary of Vietnam-Hungary diplomatic relations.
The event is organized by the Hungarian Embassy in Vietnam, the Fund for Hungarian and Vietnamese Culture, and the Vietnam-Hungary Friendship Association.
Hungarian artists and the Vietnam Symphony Orchestra will perform Les préludes and Hungarian fantasia by Franz Liszt under Japanese conductor Tetsuji Honna.
Vietnamese Meritorious Artist Hoang Duong and cellist Ngo Hoang Quan will also play Tieng Hat Song Huong (Singing on the Huong River) with accompaniment from the orchestra.
The concert is part of this year’s cultural activities and attractions including publishing a book in Hungarian and Vietnamese languages about the two nations’ 60-year relationship; a display of bronze statues portraying Vietnam by Farkas Aladas (1909-1981); and a book fair to introduce Hungarian books that have been translated into Vietnamese, said the Hungarian Ambassador to Vietnam, Vizi-Laszlo.
The restoration of a tower in Vung Tau to commemorate the famous Hungarian scholar of Oriental studies, Alexander Csoma De Koros, will also take place in the coming months.
In addition, two music composers from the Vietnamese film Dung Dot “Don’t Burn” directed by Dang Nhat Minh will visit Vietnam in autumn.
