Entry in the Global Vietnamese Pageant is restricted to single, childless Vietnamese women aged 18-27 who are over 160 cm tall, have at least a high school education and have never had cosmetic surgery or a sex change.
In addition, winners and runners-up in beauty pageants here or abroad in 2006 and 2007 will get automatic entry into the second round.
Their country of residence is immaterial; in fact, the organizers are hoping for a sizeable number of contestants from outside Viet Nam.
The winner will get a cash prize of US$5,000 plus a package tour of the country, the first-runner-up will get $3,000 and the second runner-up $2,000.
There are also US$1,000 prizes for the winners of the Miss Photo, Miss Tourism and Miss Sea titles.
The final round will take place at the VinPearl resort from mid-August to the beginning of September.
To enter in Viet Nam, apply to the office of Tien Phong newspaper at 15 Ho Xuan Huong Street, Ha Noi or 384 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City before August 15.
Would-be contestants outside Viet Nam can apply online at www.tienphongonline.com.vn, www.thanhnien.com.vn or www.thanhniennews.com (the English version).
The contest’s organizers are Thanh Nien and Tien Phong newspapers, Viet Nam Television and the Vinpearl Tourism and Trade Company.
