French piano duo to play in Vietnam

A special concert by piano duo Isabelle and Florence Lafitte will be held at the Hanoi Opera House on March 1.

A special concert by piano duo Isabelle and Florence Lafitte will be held at the Hanoi Opera House on March 1.

They will play pieces by Claude Debussy, Alexandre Glazouvov, Maurice Ravel and Nicolai Rimski-Korsakov.

After graduating from the Lyon Conservatoire National Supérieur Musique et Danse, the twin sisters continued their musical studies at the Manhattan School of Music in the US and the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary. They have won many international awards for “Duo piano” performances.

The duo received the first prize at the International Music Video Competition in Tokyo in 1987 and an honorary award at the International Murray Dranoff competition in Miami on 1989.

During their 30 years of playing, they have accompanied many famous orchestras such as the National Orchestra of France, Orchestra Mozarteum of Salzbourg, National Orchestra of Capital Toulouse, Orchestra Philharmonique of Hong Kong and Orchestra Royal Philharmonique of Flandres.
Another concert will take place at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music on March 4.

Tickets are priced at VND100, 000-200,000 (US$5-10). A 50 per cent discount will be available for students and French Cultural Centre members.

Tickets are available at 24 Trang Tien Street in Ha Noi and 112 Nguyen Du Street in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
