Ms. Aragon’s friend, Professor Doctor Tran Van Khe, a famous cultural and traditional-music researcher, said he was moved by the photos because many reveal their characters’ inner feelings through their postures and eyes.

Ms. Aragon began working for the Vietnam-Pacific Research and Development Institute in 2007, where her research into plants took her regularly to mountainous regions.

She has worked for several magazines, writing about Asia, especially Vietnam about whose culture and history she has written extensively.

The exhibition, to be held at the Lotus Gallery, 67 Pasteur, will go on until February 5.
