Finnish choir ‘Dominante’ to perform in Hanoi

‘Dominante’, one of Finland’s most famous choirs will give a performance at the Tuoi Tre Theatre in Hanoi on March 6.

Dominante has become a desired choral performer in Finland thanks to its versatile repertoire ranging from traditional to ultramodern choral music and from musicals to orchestral works during the past three decades.

Founded in 1975 as a student choir of the Helsinki University, the Dominante choir consists mostly of students of the Aalto University, University of Helsinki and the Sibelius Academy.

Dominante has appeared in more than twenty recordings.  For its latest, a cappella recording titled “Lempeä”, Dominante received the “Record of the Year” award from the Finnish Choral Directors’ Association in 2009.

In 2010 Dominante participated in the recordings of works by Jean Sibelius for the BIS record label.  Dominante’s performances of these choral works for mixed choir have been critically acclaimed across Europe.

Dominante also encourages its members in vocal group activities.  Many of the choir’s quartets and quintets have won national prizes.

The Choir conducts world tours every year.
