After Hristo Stoichkov was refused because of the financial matters, German coach Falko Goetz, the most prominent candidate for the coaching seat of Vietnam National Football Team, as planned before, would arrive in Hanoi last week for contract negotiations with Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) but he was impeded by the incompletion of visa application.
VFF’s reasons for “crossing out” Stoichkov from the list of candidates for coaching position was due to the sponsor plan with one million USD per year from a Bulgarian economic corporation named Nove Vasil Bozkov.
According to Mr. Nguyen Trong Hy, the current president of VFF, the business partner who had an intention to provide VFF with Stoichkov’s salary wanted to focus on the betting markets in Vietnam while our government has not allowed this kind of activity to be performed yet. That’s why the possibility of cooperation is very low.
The plan to cooperate with the Bulgarian football legend Hristo Stoichkov could not be completed, but VFF will pay special attention to Falko Goetz, who once led the footballers of a German association football club named Hertha Berlin, playing very successfully in the German Bundesliga Championship. According to some sources, VFF and Falko Goetz nearly reached an agreement on a two-year contract.
The only barrier that prevented from signing the contract is the term proposed by Falko Goetz. It said that compensation with 16-month salary will be in demand if VFF unilaterally ends the contract. If the negotiation is concluded soon, Falko Goetz will officially become the new coach of Vietnam National Football Team.
In case the negotiation lasts so long, VFF will invite Mr. Mai Duc Chung, current coach of Navibank Saigon Football Club, to be the temporary coach of Vietnam National Football Team in the first round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and Mr. Phan Thanh Hung, current coach of Hanoi T&T Football Club, to be the temporary coach of the Vietnam Olympic Team in the first round of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
