The conference was presided over by Head of the Central Commission on Mass Mobilization of Communist Party of Vietnam Truong Thi Mai.
Labor, employment and sustainable earning were discussed together with challenges and solutions to promote the career progression for ethnic women so that no one is left behind.
The Vietnam Women Association said that women of ethnic minority communities are the most disadvantaged group in the labor market because they don’t have many chances to study so they just work in farming fields. The rate of ethnic minority women working in technical profession is very low.
Only 2 percent of ethnic minority girls of 12 groups attend vocational training schools at the age of 15.
Speaking at the conference, Ms. Mai said that the Government should have the best long term policies to support women of ethnic minorities because the supporting policies are very important to encourage ethnic minority people, especially women, to participate in social activities, contributing to the development of the ethnic minority groups.
