Lam Dong Province’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has recently approved a project to develop a potato farm in Da Lat City and near by districts from 2009 to 2015.
The project includes growing various potato varieties, such as Atlantic, PO3, and DK96, in an area of 2,200 hectares.
It will also train local farmers with modern farming techniques.
Local farmers have reached agreements with PepsiCo Vietnam and Orion Vina, under which the businesses buy potatoes directly from the farmers.
Lam Dong expects to harvest 23,400 tons of potatoes next year.
The project costs VND556 billion (US$31.3 million) and will be paid from the Government budget, relevant businesses and farmers.
