Head of the Department Dr. Tran Dac Phu said that dengue has developed most complicatedly with over 45,000 cases including 14 deaths. Most cases are locals in the South, the Central and the Highlands.
Nevertheless, Hanoi has seen a year-on-year surge of 400 percent with more than 4,000 infection cases and one death; accordingly, Dr. Phu warned the disease comes earlier this year in Hanoi.
Normally, dengue takes place in July and August; yet, this year, infection cases were detected in May and June.
Along with dengue, in the first six months, nearly 400 encephalitis cases including ten deaths had been reported. Of the cases, 62 people have had Japanese encephalitis with one death and 69 people suffered swine streptococcus disease including four deaths; a year-on-year rise of 40 cases.
Worse, rabies claimed 35 lives and all people had not been vaccinated before.
Mr. Phu pointed out that the unpredictable weather triggers outbreaks of more diseases especially rainy season is conducive for the strong development of mosquito, virus. In spite of increased outbreaks of some diseases this time, there has been no detection of genetic mutation or strain mutation.
