Concert honors capital’s music history

“Music Story of the Old Quarter”, a monthly music show which aims to introduce generally to the world the evolution of the Hanoi’s music, from past to present, will take place at the Center of the Old Quarter’s Culture Exchange in Hanoi on May 13.

Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam has its proud 1000-year-old history and tradition. The music born here shares the same richness as the city’s history itself: diversified, unique and original.

The concert is expected to present Hanoi’s culture, history and humans to local and foreign audiences through portraying Vietnamese’s unique music

The shows portrait the city’s music history through traditional vocal techniques, rhythms and beats combined with contemporary installation arts. The event will be performed by leading folk singers and musicians in the country, and artists of the Ancient Music of Tonkin.

The Ancient Music of Tonkin includes traditional singers, musicians and Vietnamese culture lovers who embrace the passion for the conservation of Vietnamese traditional music.

The non-profit program receives donations, such as buying bamboo sticks to present artists in their best performances or providing short term/ long term sponsorship for the project.
