Coconut Festival 2015 opened in Ben Tre

Following the success of the third Coconut Festival in 2012, the fourth Coconut Festival in 2015 has taken place in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre on April 7- 13.

Attending in opening ceremony of the national scale event was former State President Nguyen Minh Triet, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh and representative leaders of ministries, departments, agencies, coconut- planting businesses and crowded visitors.

The event has gone through 164 local communes, districts and towns in Ben Tre during seven days, aiming to not only promote and advertize Ben Tre’s coconut industry and its products to domestic and international tourists but also push forward the sustainable development of the coconut industry

Within the framework of the event, series of important activities will be held like workshop on sustainable cooperation and development of coconut industry as well as tourist in Ben Tre, coconut exhibitions, southern region’s trade and food fair.

The seven days festival attracted registration of 223 coconut businesses with 624 booths.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee of Ben Tre Vo Thanh Hao said that through the wars and during the building the province, coconut trees and industry have been playing an important role in the development of economy as well as society of the province.

Moreover, the trees is considered as a symbol of fidelity, faithfulness, patience and love of Ben Tre as well as southern region’s people, added Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
