Coach driver speeding, lost control on Srepok Bridge: Police report

The police reached this conclusion after a thorough investigation of the accident by the Institute of Criminal Science, who gathered all necessary evidence and statements of witnesses.

Driver Pham Ngoc Lam, who died in the accident, was driving the coach at a fast 70 kilometres an hour speed and had lost control of his vehicle and crashed it into the guard rail of the bridge.

The impact of the speeding coach broke the railing of the Srepok Bridge, which then had a free-fall into the river, killing 34 people.

Investigation revealed that the coach had been carrying 57 passengers, including four children, at the time of the accident while its capacity allowed only a maximum of 52 people.
