City’s stages face problems

“The stage socialization process has created a strong development of the city’s theaters and produced a great number of dynamic actors and managers” said Mr. Le Duy Hanh, chairman of the HCMC Theater Association, to the Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper on June 18 at the municipal Opera House.  Today marks the occasion of the 6th Delegation Congress of Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association.

However, the stage socialization process also has several weak points. The development of theaters is unplanned and unstable from the infrastructure to the actors themselves, who have recently spent their time acting in TV series, he added.

The city’s stage industry should build a legal system, create works which provide good amusement value to attract viewers, and enhance their theory and criticism to find high quality and valuable plays, Mr. Hanh said.

The city People’s Committee will invest in building a Drama Art Center at 5B Vo Van Tan Street in District 3 (head office of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association and 5B Small Stage Drama Theater).

The Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association will also support activities of its clubs and unions of circus, writer, and directors.

The association will focus on performing dramas at coffee shops for young people in the city, he said.
