Accordingly, Chinese arrivals fell by 2 percent in last December, 10.7 percent in January, 14 percent in March; and 3.8 percent in April; just made an increase of 6.8 percent in February.
Neighboring countries, including Thailand, Singapore also saw a sharp decrease in the number of tourists from this largest visitor market.
Travel enterprises said that the drop mainly happens to tourists arriving in chartered flights and high-class visitors staying in luxury beach resorts. It showed an unremarkable number of travellers by air and land.
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism will host a tourism promotion program in China’s Chengdu, Chongqing, and Shenzhen cities from in May.
Vietnam received more than 5.96 million international tourists in the first four months in this year, a year-on-year increase of 7.6 percent, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
In april, the number of international visitors was more than 1.46 million, up 4.2 percent against from the previous month and 9.5 percent against April 2018.
The number of visitors from Thailand increased by 46.5 percent, Indonesia 29.1 percent, China’s Taiwan 25 percent, the Philippines 24.4 percent, South Korea 23.3 percent, Malaysia 15.7 percent, Denmark and Switzerland 12.1 percent, Norway 11 percent and Italia 10.5 percent.
According to statistics, the number of domestic holiday makers is 31.5 million in the first four months. The tourism sector earned over VND227.7 trillion (US$9.8 billion USD) in revenues, an annual increase of 8.91 percent.
The country saw an increase of 5.4 percent in visitor arrivals by air, 21.1 percent in tourists coming by land, and a decrease of 15.9 percent in cruiseship vacationers compared to previous years.
