The 5m-high bronze statue of National Hero Nguyen Hue or King Quang Trung (1753-1792) was officially unveiled yesterday in the central Binh Dinh Province’s Quy Nhon City.

Sculpted by Luu Danh Thanh, the 13-ton statue depicting the warrior king on horseback brandishing his sword is placed on a pedestal elaborately engraved with flower patterns.
The work is considered a local landmark for Quy Nhon City, homeland of Hero Nguyen Hue.
Artist Thanh also cast another cement statue of King Quang Trung which has been placed there since 1976.
Earlier on January 19, the Binh Dinh Department of Culture and Information received a bronze censer to be placed at the Tay Son Temple in the province’s Quang Trung Museum in Tay Son District.
The 2.1x1.2m thurible is 2.9m tall, weighs 4 tons and took artisans from the Yen Xa trade village in Nam Dinh Province six months to finish.
Nguyen Hue was a general, an emperor of Tay Son Dynasty and one of the most talented generals in Vietnamese millitary history with resounding victories including the triumphs over Siamese army in Rach Gam and Qing's army in Dong Da, Thang Long.
