British TNT Theatre will perform the play ‘King Lear’, tragedy drama by William Shakespeare, during its tour of Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang from October 24 to November 2.
The play is based on the legend of the Lair of Great Britain, a mythological pre-Roman Celtic king.

The play was written between 1603 and 1606 and later revised. Shakespeare's earlier version, ‘The True Chronicles of the History of the Life and Death of King Lear and His Three Daughters’, was published in quarto in 1608. The tragedy of ‘King Lear’, a more theatrical version, was included in the 1623 First Folio.
The play has been widely adapted for stage and motion pictures, and the role of King Lear has been coveted and played by many of the world's most accomplished actors.
This year, ‘King Lear’ has been performed in more than 10 countries across the world. Many pieces of works by William Shakespeare, including ‘Hamlet’, ‘Macbeth’, and ‘Romeo and Juliet’ have been staged by British TNT Theatre at major arts festivals around the globe.
In co-ordination with the Centre for Performing Arts, British TNT Theatre has successfully staged many plays such as ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Christmas Carol’, ‘Macbeth’ and ‘Oliver Twist’ in Vietnam.
