Actor Bao Quoc celebrates Golden Jubilee

The three-hour show will include four extracts of cai luong and drama plays from the past that helped him achieve fame – including ‘Di bien mot minh’ (Giving birth alone), ‘Lu Bo hi Dieu Thuyen’ (Lu Bo woos Dieu Thuyen), ‘No Than’ (Magic crossbow) and ‘Thi Mau’.

The performance also aims to honor the comedian’s family, teachers, friends and audiences who have supported him for more than 50 years.

Bao Quoc was born in 1949 in Tay Ninh Province into a well-known family steeped in traditional music.

His parents were famous cai luong actor Nam Nghia and Nguyen Thi Tho, manager of the Thanh Minh-Thanh Nga theatrical troupe.

His elder sister was the late cai luong actress Thanh Nga, who was one of the most famous actresses of Vietnam during the 1980s.

Drama actors including Huu Chau, Ha Linh, Gia Bao and actress Hong Loan who are all family members of the comedian will join the show.

Famed actors Trung Dan, Vu Luan, Phuoc Sang, Chi Bao, Huynh Dong, Anh Vu, Tan Beo and actresses Ngoc Giau, Le Thuy, Kim Xuan, Hong Van, Ngoc Trinh, Tu Suong and pop star Dam Vinh Hung will be special guests at the show.
