700,000 Int’l tourists to visit HCMC in March

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Department, the city is expected to welcome nearly 700,000 international arrivals in March.

One of the reasons to attract many visitors is that the fifth Ao Dai festival  being taken place at the Youth Cultural House and Thuan Kieu Square (The Garden Mall) starting from March 2-23 with many exciting activities such as Co-star with Ao Dai, Ao Dai – technology application fashion trend, “Charming Ao Dai” contest, Vietnamese – Japanese cultural exchange program under theme of “Ao Dai and fabric flower Tsumami”, conference about Ao Dai history …

According to Mr. Bui Ta Hoang Vu, Director of the HCMC Department of Tourism, more than 1.3 million international tourists visited the city, reaching 17 percent of the year target in the first- two months of the year. 

Currently, the city's tourism sector has been closely collaborating with restaurants, hotels, travel agencies… to promote and introduce to visitors the Ao Dai festival.

By the evening of March 2, around 200 tailor and Ao Dai stores were ready to run discount program, consult for visitors with free of charge. In addition, leaders and officials of some consulates general in Ho Chi Minh such as China, Cuba, the US, India, Thailand, Taiwan (China)… have also registered to take part in the event.

In order to create more convenience, Ho Chi Minh City has just announced the parking lots for visitors in district 1 including the second basement of Rex Hotel, Kim Do hotel (113 Nguyen Hue street), Saigon Prince (63 Nguyen Hue street), Sunwah tower (on the intersection of Ton That Thuyet and Nguyen Hue street), Grand hotel on the entrance of Ho Huan Nghiep street, 7-9 Cong Truong Lam Son street (on the back of Municipal Theatre of Ho Chi Minh City), pavement of Hai Trieu street on the corner of Ho Chi Minh City State Treasury.

The closing event will be held in Thuan Kieu Square (The Garden Mall) in March 23.
