Doctor Dang Van Phuc, deputy director of the Go Cong Town General Hospital, the Mekong province of Tien Giang, said a woman gave birth to a 6kg-baby girl who is the heaviest weight ever recorded at the hospital on December 17.
This happened after a 20-minute surgery, which was successfully performed by Doctor Dang Van Phuc.
In 2006, Mother Tran Thi Phuong, 29, bore a son who weighed in at 4.2kg.
The newly born baby and the mother are healthy, said the doctor, and they will be staying at the hospital for observation for next four to five days. This is only precautionary measure, said the doctor, due to the weight of the child.
